I’m Laura French, The Mom Lawyer®, founder and owner of French Law Group LLC located in Watkinsville, Georgia, just outside of Athens. I am mom to the most incredible human being on the planet, and lawyer to thousands of amazing clients, each brave enough to ask for help with their legal planning. My husband and I have been married for almost 30 years; he is the COO of our firm.
When my son was young and I was working with my own coach, brainstorming about my practice and how I’d structured my life, with all of the possibilities in front of me, I reflected on what I did each day, and it occurred to me that I mothered in a variety of ways. I am MOM to the most important person in my life—my son, and I “mother” my students and my clients as well. Hence, The Mom Lawyer® was born. Now, I’m using my over 25 years in the law to serve and support YOU through education, professional mentoring, coaching, consulting, writing and speaking.
“In my role as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia, I was responsible for training public safety officers. In creating The Mom Lawyer® programming, I realized this is when I first started teaching.”
Just out of law school, I was as an Assistant Attorney General for the State of Georgia, after which I worked in a medium-large law firm in downtown Atlanta. In 1999, I landed an associate position with a true female attorney-mentor, and on October 1, 2001, I became a partner at my mentor’s firm. 2001. What had just happened? September 11. Signing my name to those papers and committing myself financially, mentally, and emotionally was difficult at that time.

Fast forward to April 1, 2013 – I packed up my things and all I that had learned as a partner in my mentor’s firm, and I opened my own law firm, French Law Group LLC. During the partner years at my previous post, we internally worked separately, so while my decision to establish French Law Group was new, it was also a continuation of what I had been doing for years. I opened my second location of French Law Group near Athens, Georgia in Watkinsville in October 2018; this office is now my headquarters, which was expanded in October 2021.
